WORKSHOPS

GOTMYGOAT'S WORKSHOPS  2021 - 2022 *

The following half-day workshops may be scheduled for 2-10 attendees. Fees depend on number of attendees and venue. Material fees for the workshops will vary. Travel expenses outside Clallum County WA are negotiable.

*The Pandemic has put a glitch on these workshops also. Stay tuned for safer days.

SPINNING
Picture

Pickin' Spinnin' & Grinnin'

Triple pickers can be frightful looking and some say they will ruin your fine fibers. Used carefully and gently, pickers are a great tool to prep mohair especially. Spinning straight from the handful onto a core can create a thick/thin, straight/curly textured art yarn. The spinner will learn how to create textured artyarn ‘outside the box’ of the normal, consistent yarns. And of course the class will be fun and as free of stress as possible.

DYEING

Bobbing for Apples Technique

Not just for Halloween! Fun way to create a 2-3 tone yarn. You choose the basic colors, 1 for each half of your wooly apple. Watch the absorption from darkest on the outside to lightest on the inside.

Handpainting & Speckling Yarns

Remember finger painting in kindergarten? This class will be almost as much fun and with few restraints. It includes an introduction to handpainting wool yarn with acid dyes and citric acid. The class members will give up their color wheels for some adventurous play. The steam setting will be done with plastic wrap and a microwave.

TRIANGLE LOOM WEAVING
Basics

NO WARPING! NO WEFTING! NO HIGHER MATH. Just a continuous ball of yarn and a 3 sided loom.  If time allows, the class will cover ways to finish edges. This is a light-hearted workshop and is meant to open minds to this non-traditional weaving technique.
